We’re turning the whole notion of Friday the 13th bringing bad luck on it’s head because today is your lucky day. We’ve collected quite a great list of resources of great free 3D Models. Some of this we’ve shared before but some is brand-spanking new.
1. 3D Digital Doubles
3D Scanning and Character Creation – Download free models.
3D Digital Doubles is a company that sells collections of 3D models at very reasonable prices. Users can upload photos of objects that they wish to sell or distribute freely on the website via their free 3DDD – 360 service. They stress that the 3D models will only be as good as the photos that have been uploaded by users.
They have a free section where users have decided to give away items that they've scanned and you can download clothing items like hats and boots, head scans, mannequins, skulls and even Apu from the Simpsons. It looks like most come in OBJ format.

2. Video Copilot Future City Pack
Design your own Futuristic Cities with these amazing models.
You have to appreciate the guys at Video Copilot. The Future City Pack was crowd-sourced from Element 3D users, so thank you to everyone who contributed!
The Future City Pack consists of 30 buildings in OBJ file format, which you can use to create dazzling futuristic urban horizon inside Element 3D in After Effects. Some models feature high resolution textures and others have lower resolution and work better for far-flung stucturess. Try it out and see what amazing things you can conjur. Use the City Pack in combination with the Element 3D replicator to make a megalopolis!
Requires Video Copilot Element 3D v1.6.
3. CINEMA 4D Exchange
Exchange portal for C4D users. Some are free and some are for a reasonable price.
There are objects, textures, materials, C4D scenes, plug-ins, tutorials and more.
4. Free Car Models from DMI-3D
DMI has a collection of Lightwave car models, including Ferarris, Fiats, and Fords for free download.
5. Zerokob Insect Models
Download 15 kinds of insect 3DCG data in OBJ format (and please use them with the Video Copilot Future City Pack, but please make them friendly at the model creators request!) The models are free to use commercially.
The model in the image is a Japanese Rhinocerous Beetle. The artist says that the models are accurate and to compare them to specimens, if you wish. He adds, “Some of the mesh flows of the models are biased because they were created using spline patch modeling. You can correct them by the Retopo.”
6. 3D Diamonds/Jewels
Download different cuts of diamonds and color them to create rubies, sapphires and emeralds!
The files from 3dlapidary.com are in multiple formats including .obj, .dfx, .3ds, .lwo, .c4d, .3dm, .br4, .raw, .sldprt, and others.
7. Random Models for Non-Commercial Use
These are user submitted items to Crazy3DFree.com for free download and there are some very interesting models here.
8. Interior Design Models
There are lots of items here for the home and other interiors… a basketball court! The models here are for personal use only so non-commercial.
9. A Managerie of Models

All sorts of formats: .3ds, .obj, .c4d, .lwo, and more. Some require Vray. They also have Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash files also.
